The SMART Board SB885ix2 interactive whiteboard system combines the use of a SMART Board 885 interactive whiteboard, a SMART UX80 projector, and other accessories and optional equipment. It uses the WXGA (16:10) ultra-short-throw, high-offset SMART UX80 projector and delivers high definition, 3D-ready high performance interactivity that is virtually shadow-free and glare-free. Four users can draw on the interactive surface at the same time, and you can use an array of gestures within applications. The projector supports video and audio connections from a variety of devices including DVD and Blu-ray players, document cameras, and other high-definition sources, and can project media from these sources onto the interactive screen. All HDMI 1.4 inputs are HDCP compliant.

Featuring the SMART UX80 ultra short throw projector

The all new SMART UX80 ultra-short-throw projector is HD-ready and provides 3,600 lumens for classrooms with high ambient lighting, and an ultra-short throw distance that virtually eliminates shadows and glare.
 
The extended control panel provides easy access to all audiovisual products in the classroom and enables teachers to switch between inputs and access power and volume controls from one location. The projector is mounted directly above the interactive whiteboard for simple installation, and the swivel projector mount makes alignment easier. And its long-lasting lamp and filter-free design reduce maintenance costs.
 
The projector supports video and audio connections from a variety of devices including DVD and Blu-ray players, document cameras, and other high-definition sources, and can project media from these sources onto the interactive screen. All HDMI 1.4 inputs are HDCP compliant. The UX80 offers 2 HDMI inputs, an integrated speaker, and the ability to control 2 displays simultaneously. The UX80 comes with the widescreen SMART Board 885ix interactive whiteboard system.
 

In the classroom

Now up to four students can collaborate with lesson content anywhere on the interactive surface. Each user can use a finger or a pen to simultaneously write or draw with a pen, erase with a palm and manipulate objects in SMART Notebook™ collaborative learning software. Teachers can enable collaboration instantly with no special tools or menus required – students can simply walk up to the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and immediately begin working together.

Students can use simple, intuitive touch gestures* to toss, rotate or zoom in on objects in SMART Notebook™ collaborative learning software, or access other applications in Windows 7 or Mac Snow Leopard. The SMART UX80 projector uses BrilliantColor™ technology from Texas Instruments™ to produce high levels of brightness and contrast. 3600 lumens allow for use in the brightest of classroom environments enabling video, data and lesson
files to look crisp and bright from every position in the room.

Object awareness – Making it easy to interact

The technology is virtually invisible. The 885ix2 uses cameras to identify when a user switches between using a finger, pen and eraser. A user can also write with a pen, erase with a palm and move objects with a finger, without having to press buttons, access on-screen menus or replace tools in the Pen Tray.
 

Freestyle interaction – Expanding the boundaries of learning with the SB885ix2-SMP

The system enables four users to instantly start working together without having to switch into a separate multi-user mode or work in a confined area. And each user can individually complete actions, like writing in digital ink or moving objects with their fingers.

Discover a natural, responsive and accurate writing experience with SMART Ink. It smoothes out the appearance of the digital ink, which improves the legibility of your handwriting as you write over applications, websites and videos. The ink becomes an object that you can move and manipulate.
