Epson enables people worldwide to make, share and capture creativity and bring it to life. Epson technologies open the door to limitless opportunities in visual communications, robotics, sensing, and business and commercial digital imaging. As a global innovator Epson applies its cutting-edge technologies in markets including sports, fashion, augmented reality, and personal healthcare.

History:
Epson's earliest predecessor was founded in 1942. Today the company is officially known as the Seiko Epson Corporation although it rarely uses this full name. Epson has the name Seiko Epson because the company is a part of the Seiko Group which also includes Seiko Holdings Corp. and Seiko Instruments Inc. That said, each of these companies is managed and operated separately for one another. Epson launched its first printer in 1968. By 1984 Epson released its first commercial inkjet printer, called the SQ-2000. In 1989 Epson introduced its first projector with 3LCD technology, called the VPJ-700. This would evolve into what is today a strong line of innovative projectors. Innovations continued to come throughout the years for Epson. The company released the Stylus 800, the first inkjet printer equipped with MicroPiezo technology, in 1993. By 1994 it had developed the world's first 720dpi color inkjet printer.

Throughout the following 15 years the company released multiple new projectors and projection technologies including the Powerlite Home Cinema projectors, the EMP-TWD1 1,200-lumen projector for projecting crisp images in bright spaces, and the EMP-6100 projector which is dust-proof. Epson projectors utilize the latest, most powerful technologies such as 3LCD. This technology has evolved today from its introduction in 1989. 3LCD uses a 3-chip design which sets itself apart by delivering vibrant, true-to-life images with up to 3 times higher color brightness than non-3LCD projectors. In a market research study done by Radius Global Market Research, Epson 3LCD projectors were compared with 1-chip DLP projectors with similar resolutions and white brightness specifications. Results showed that 9 out of 10 people preferred images from Epson 3LCD projectors. Another Epson projection technology, called E-TORL lamp technology, further enhances Epson projectors. It minimizes both light diffraction and leakage, and provides as much as 50% longer lamp life than competitive products.
