Personal PA® FM receiver with display

The newest addition to the Personal PA FM line - the stylish, new PPA SelectView™ FM receiver - is easy on the eyes and convenient to use. The high-res OLED screen presents a quick view of receiver status and immediate access to all user settings. The highlight: on-screen channel selection with easy access to 17 pre-set, wideband frequencies (72-76 MHz).
 
Digitally synthesized for exceptional audio clarity and stability, the ease of the PPA SelectView™ is apparent with its digital tuning, digital squelch and battery-saving sleep and auto-off modes. A stereo/mono jack adds compatibility with a variety of mono and stereo earphone/headphone options. A soft audio turn-on feature makes power-up or changing channels easy on the ears.



The PPA SelectView™ is rechargeable when used with NiMH AA batteries (compatible with the Williams Sound CHG 3512 and 3502 multi-bay chargers) -or- Alkaline AA batteries can also be used. And it’s covered by our Lifetime PLUS Limited Warranty.

Architectural / engineering specifications

The receiver shall be encased in black, PC/ABS impact-resistant plastic with a hinged battery door. The receiver shall be a body-pack style and include a detachable belt-clip for hands-free operation. The receiver shall have a 3.5mm stereo jack to accommodate stereo or mono low impedance earphones, headphones and neck loops. The receiver shall have a power button that is backlit indicating power is on. The receiver shall receive 17 preset wideband channels between 72-76MHz. Channels selection shall be made in the menu. The receiver shall have channel-lock capability.


 
The receiver shall have a slide switch inside the battery compartment to select disposable Alkaline or NiMH rechargeable battery operation. It shall have charger contacts on the bottom of the receiver for use with Williams Sound drop-in chargers CHG 3512 and CHG 3502. The receiver shall operate up to 50 hours with two disposable AA Alkaline batteries (BAT 001-2) and up to 32 hours with two AA NiMH rechargeable batteries (BAT 026-2).
 
The receiver shall provide a maximum output of 35mW at 16Ω with an ear bud type earphone. The systems audio frequency response shall be 200Hz to 15 kHz ± 3dB and the signal to noise ratio shall be 65dB min. The receiver sensitivity shall be 2µV or better at 12dB Sinad with squelch defeated. The receiver shall accept up to ±75kHz FM deviation and have a 75 µS de-emphasis time constant.
 
The receiver shall have FCC, Industry Canada approvals and be compliant with RoHS and WEEE regulations. The receiver shall be covered by a Lifetime PLUS Limited Warranty, 90 Days on most accessories. This receiver shall be the Williams Sound model PPA R38.

Troubleshooting

Problem		Solution
Can’t hear the person speaking/no audio		Verify transmitter and receiver are both ON Verify transmitter and receiver are both on the same channel/frequency. Verify transmitter is set up and working properly; i.e. the mic is not muted. Make sure the earphone/headphone/neckloop plug is inserted all the way into the jack of the receiver. The cord is the receiving antenna. Try a different earphone, headphone, or neckloop Try a different receiver
Can’t hear the person speaking above the room noise		Adjust the microphone volume on the transmitter. Reposition the transmitter microphone closer to the mouth.
Limited Range		The earphone/headphone/neckloop cord is the receiving antenna. Make sure it is not coiled up or obstructed, and that it is a Williams Sound approved earphone, headphone, or neckloop. Verify the transmitter distance from the receiver - try bringing them closer. Verify there are no other transmitters in the area on the same (interfering) channels. Transmitter batteries low? Receiver batteries low? Try new batteries.
Feedback (squealing)		Lower the microphone volume on the transmitter. Increase the distance between the microphone and the electronic speaker.
Receiver not working, power button blinking		Return receiver to Williams Sound for service. This is an internal error code and cannot be serviced by the consumer.
Screen turns off too quickly		Adjust the screen timeout in the advanced settings menu.
Won’t Charge NiMH batteries		Make sure the “Alkaline/NiMH” battery switch (located in the battery compartment) is set to "NiMH".
Can’t change channels or access any of the settings. Display shows “LOCKED”		Refer to Hidden Settings for instructions on how to unlock the receiver.
