Capture and display clear images
The HoverCam HCS5 Solo 5 Document Camera uses image compression to achieve 15 frames/sec over USB 2.0, so it doesn’t have the clarity or speed of the Solo 8. This product, introduced in 2012, has been surpassed by the new Solo 8 in resolution and speed.
You can capture and display clear images, so students at the back of the room can see small type on a full page document. With such high resolution, Solo 5 may also be used as a scanner to scan articles and student papers. Auto Focus makes it easier for teachers to set up and use.
True 5.0 megapixel resolution
Solo 5 delivers 2x the resolution compared to both the highest HD TV resolution (1080P) and the best-selling HoverCam T3. It offers a range of resolutions from 2592x1944 at 15fps to 800x600 at 30fps. This means you get exceptional clarity.
Auto Focusing convenience with Auto Focus Lock
Solo 5 incorporates a tiny auto focusing CMOS sensor and lens module. From any angle or distance, your images become instantly clear. With autofocus and AF Lock, blurry images are a thing of the past.
Chromebook app
The Hovercam app for Chrome allows you to use your Hovercam with a Chromebook. Just install the free app from the Chrome Store, plug the Hovercam's USB cable in, open the app, and you'll see the Hovercam's image right on your screen. The app allows you to zoom, focus, adjust color and white balance, freeze the image, and capture still images right from your Chromebook. While not as feature rich as the Windows and Mac software, this is a very functional app and the best way to use a document camera with a Chromebook.
Double the speed
Solo 5’s onboard image processing chip delivers MJPEG compressed video to PC or Mac at the fastest speed in its class. It displays full 5MP resolution without cropping at 15 frames per second (fps). This reduces blurriness so that students can concentrate on learning while teachers can deliver distraction-free lessons.
Zoom from A3 to a Quarter
Position the camera from 17.7" to 1.4" above the surface to achieve 12x mechanical zoom. Combined with the 16x digital zoom, the Solo 5 has an amazing 192x effective magnification. This amazing zoom ability allows you to see the tiny details on a quarter, which are virtually undetectable to the human eye, to be clearly shown on screen. When zoomed out, you can display a single A3, i.e., two U.S. Letter-sized pages side by side.
On-board shortcut keys
The Solo 5 Onboard Shortcut Buttons allow you to control the camera without your mouse or keyboard. Use the buttons to the right to see what each button does.
